How O2 Rock Splitter Works

Five steps, from air to broken rock.

Follow the process hole by hole — from liquefying oxygen to controlled fragmentation with no fly-rock.

01Turning air into LOX.
Air is separated and cooled to −183°C until the oxygen liquefies into LOX — the active breaking medium, ready to be charged into the hole.

02Place the paper tube in the hole.
An empty paper tube is lowered into the borehole, then connected to the filling hose through the anti-static distribution line.

03Filling LOX inside the hole.
LOX flows through the filling hose into the paper tube already inside the hole — absorbed by the combustion medium until saturated. The waterproof liner allows filling even in water-filled holes.

04Ignite & vaporize.
An electric trigger (Launcher) drives LOX expansion from liquid to gas — up to about 800× its original volume inside the sealed hole.

05Rock breaks from within.
The expansion pressure breaks rock from the inside, following natural weak planes — controlled fragmentation with no fly-rock.

How It Works

What Happens Inside the Borehole?

O₂ Rock Splitter works by harnessing expansion energy inside the borehole. Once the paper tube is placed and the system is triggered, pressure acts from within the rock and helps form fractures along its natural planes of weakness.

This lets rock breaking be carried out with better control over the direction of the break, vibration, and impact on the surrounding area.
